Parent Learning Hour: “Active Start: Physical Literacy and Your Child”

During this Parent Learning Hour (PLH), educators will facilitate an information session regarding the importance of raising children who are physically literate. Physical literacy can be defined as being able to move with competence and confidence in variety of activities and in multiple environments. Parents will learn of the benefits of ensuring that children are active, beginning in the early years and progressing throughout their childhood. Physically literate children have a foundational sense of their own well-being, improved academic performance, maintain healthier relationships, and have an overall personal satisfaction. Educators will offer techniques for fostering physical literacy and boosting activeness in children. Parents will participate in group discussion, which will include the opportunity to share their experiences, and for educators to respond to questions and provide support.
